The Norland Vikings have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Palmetto by a score of 38-25 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Norland also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Norland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasmine Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Norland's points. Another player making a difference was Myah Newton, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Palmetto still got an impressive performance from Sami Anes, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Anes is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Norland's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norland will take on Southridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Palmetto, they will head out on the road to take on Killian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Killian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
