Mater Academy East Las Vegas posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They blew past Cristo Rey St. Viator, posting a 85-13 victory on the road. Given Mater Academy East Las Vegas' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Cristo Rey St. Viator is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tru Young out in front who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Young has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kendon Jones, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Democracy Prep Agassi Campus came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Moapa Valley 60-20 at home.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory.
