Baseball Recap: Cactus Shadows Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cactus Shadows). They never let the Combs Coyotes get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dallas Dunn looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Dominic Ziccarelli was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Konerko, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Cactus Shadows was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Combs only posted a batting average of .176.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Combs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cactus Shadows will square off against Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastmark is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Combs, they will take on Dysart at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Dysart also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.5 runs per game.
