Oakland Catholic will face off against the West Mifflin Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Oakland Catholic came up short against Belle Vernon on Monday, falling 10-4. Oakland Catholic has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sarah Weir made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Waffensmith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Mifflin). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ringgold a 12-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won seven in a row.
RYLIE DOBNAK was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KALEIGH TATTERS, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. ADILEE SALOPEK was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
West Mifflin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
West Mifflin pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oakland Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both Oakland Catholic and West Mifflin just can't seem to miss. Oakland Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like West Mifflin struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
