Haskell has gone a perfect 9-0 against Chouteau-Mazie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Haymakers will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. Haskell knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Chouteau-Mazie likes a good challenge.
Haskell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Liberty on Friday as they made off with a 17-3 victory. Considering the Haymakers have won three games by more than 11 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Elias Gonzales made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Nevin Sheedy looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Drain, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Ellis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Chouteau-Mazie didn't have quite enough to beat Chelsea on Thursday and fell 9-8.
Chouteau-Mazie saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Applegate, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Haskell's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Chouteau-Mazie, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Haskell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chouteau-Mazie struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Haskell skirted past Chouteau-Mazie 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Haymakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
