Lakota Tech is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Falcons a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Lakota Tech Tatanka will take on the Todd County Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakota Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Falcons like a good challenge.
Lakota Tech pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mobridge-Pollock 66-61.
Despite the defeat, Lakota Tech had strong showings from Gilbert White Jr., who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals, and Treyton Sam, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sam has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Riley Casey, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Todd County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 52-46 to the Buffalos.
Lakota Tech's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Todd County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Lakota Tech was able to grind out a solid victory over the Falcons in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 77-67. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Todd County's Charles Long, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Lakota Tech to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
