Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Greene Central

Greene Central entered their tilt with West Craven on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly ten runs.

Sutton Harris was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Greene Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Elijah Monroe and Will Radford did most of the damage at the plate: Monroe scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Radford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI. Monroe has become a key player for Greene Central: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Riley Radford, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Greene Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Greene Central's record is now 8-6. As for West Craven, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Greene Central will face off against Southside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Craven will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' game: after the Rams faces off against the Seahawks, they'll take on West Craven again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
