Aiken is 1-9 against Woodward since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Aiken Falcons on the road again and play against the Woodward Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Aiken has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 342 points over their last five matchups.
Even though Aiken has not done well against Hughes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Aiken was the clear victor by a 70-50 margin over Hughes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Aiken has posted since December 2, 2023.
Aiken got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was James Burnett out in front who scored 15 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Arnold, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though Taft scored an imposing 82 points on Tuesday, Woodward still came out on top. Woodward skirted past Taft 85-82. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Woodward has posted against Taft since December 18, 2020.
Aiken pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Woodward, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Aiken came up short against Woodward in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 74-66. Can Aiken avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
