The Sidney Red Raiders lost to the Gothenburg Swedes back in October of 2021, but The Sidney Red Raiders didn't allow the Gothenburg Swedes the same satisfaction on Friday. Sidney strolled past Gothenburg with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sidney.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sidney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isak Doty, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Luke Holly, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
Sidney's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.1 points per game. As for Gothenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Sidney will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pierce. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Pierce is ranked 12th, while Sidney is ranked 27th). Gothenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
