After flying high against the Mt. Zion Bulldogs two weeks ago, The Hampton Hornets came back down to earth. Hampton fell 21-13 to McDonough on Friday. Hampton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as McDonough apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Hampton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Heaven Moke, who rushed for 143 yards on only 12 carries. Moke was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Joshua Parks was another key contributor, rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Hampton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for McDonough, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hampton will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lovett at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Lovett is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for McDonough, they will head out on the road to face off against Luella at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Luella is ranked 227th, while McDonough is ranked 244th).
