Corona del Mar hasn't had much luck against Fountain Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sea Kings will welcome the Barons at 3:15 p.m. Corona del Mar will be strutting in after a win while Fountain Valley will be coming in after a defeat.
On Saturday, Corona del Mar got the win against Avalon by a conclusive 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Sea Kings, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Natali Vasquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Bella Uy was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Daniella D'Agostino was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Corona del Mar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Fountain Valley was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Edison by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Barons have suffered since March 22nd.
Ella Kim was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kileigh Villalobos, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Fountain Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Corona del Mar, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Corona del Mar suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Fountain Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Sea Kings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
