The Liberty Lions just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Liberty's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
Liberty not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 4th (when they won 81-40). They blew past Desert Vista 80-54. The Lions have beaten the Thunder the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Thunder has come to flipping the script.

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Hunter led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Hunter's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Keegan Colter, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and six assists.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mustangs were beaten by the Bobcats 94-43. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Liberty will need to focus on slowing down Henry Nally, one of several Sunrise Mountain players who made an impact when they last played. He had nine points. Nally also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Xavier Stassen was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.
The loss snapped Sunrise Mountain's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record. As for Liberty, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Liberty has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 35.3% of their three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Sunrise Mountain struggles in that department as they've nailed 34.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Liberty beat Sunrise Mountain 68-60 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
