Softball Recap: Saratoga Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Saratoga never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Lynbrook Vikings as they made off with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Saira Ramakrishnan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Saratoga got a massive performance out of Sydney Riera, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Riera has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Bhavya Lohani also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Saratoga always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Saratoga's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lynbrook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Saratoga didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-2 victory against Santa Clara on the 9th. As for Lynbrook, they have also already played their next game, a 17-0 loss against Fremont on the 9th.
