Upper St. Clair is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Plum 46-8. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Mustangs are ranked 181st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Upper St. Clair to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dante Coury, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of TDs. Coury also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles. Another signal caller making a difference was Ethan Hellmann, who threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Upper St. Clair proved: they limited Plum to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least four total tackles, Coury stood above the rest. He rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores. Upper St. Clair's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.9.
Upper St. Clair's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Woodland Hills never let their opponents score two weeks ago. They really took it to Kiski Area for the full four quarters, racking up a 28-0 win. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Upper St. Clair's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Woodland Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Everything came up roses for Upper St. Clair against Woodland Hills in their previous matchup back in September of 2019, as the team secured a 38-10 win. In that contest, the Panthers amassed a halftime lead of 32-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
