Riley Rowe was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Bragg, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Vada Allen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Southeast came out on top against United on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Golden Eagles. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 11 runs or more this season.
Like LaBrae, Southeast also got a great game from a two-way player: Lilly Hayes. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hayes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Southeast got a massive performance out of Bailey Morris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Neena Truex also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Southeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
LaBrae pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southeast, their record now sits at 9-4.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. LaBrae hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Southeast struggles in that department as they've averaged .392. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
LaBrae beat Southeast 7-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
