Melbourne Central Catholic (8-3) found success last week, but it has a real challenge ahead. Both it and Oxbridge Academy (8-1) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Each team will be battling to keep its win streak alive, with Melbourne Central Catholic having won four in a row and Oxbridge Academy eight.
Melbourne Central Catholic went up against The First Academy last week. Melbourne Central Catholic's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 27 points in the first half. That put it at a 27 - 7 advantage. The offense continued to do well in the second half, scoring 28 points. At the end of the day, Melbourne Central Catholic walked away with a breezy 55 - 21 win.
Meanwhile, Oxbridge Academy can now show off six landslide victories after its most recent game. It put the hurt on King's Academy last week with a conclusive 42 - 7 victory. No one had a larger role in the success than junior Charles (gio) Richardson, who brought his A game into the contest. He earned one touchdown and 140 yards rushing the ball.
