Holmes has gone 8-2 against Gates County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Aces will square off against the Red Barons at 6:00 p.m. Holmes has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Holmes lost 16-4 to Camden County on Thursday. The Aces have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Holmes saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Chappell, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sarah Logan Cobb was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Gates County hadn't done well against Martin County recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Barons put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 10-4 win. The Red Barons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Hailey Bauer made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Bauer was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Kamryn Riddick was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kyndall Banks, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Gates County, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Holmes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gates County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Holmes got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Gates County by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aces since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
