The American History Bald Eagles came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Weequahic and snuck past 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win American History has posted since January 15th.
American History was led to victory by Ashiyah Holliman and Erica Lawson. Holliman dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Lawson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 steals. Lawson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamiyah Mubarak, who scored six points along with four steals.
American History is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Weequahic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
American History didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-30 defeat vs. Payne Tech on the 10th. Weequahic will head out on the road to face off against Glen Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Glen Ridge is coming into the contest with five straight wins at home, so Weequahic is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
