After losing to the Beachwood Bison the last time they met, the Garfield Heights Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Garfield Heights made off with a 41-40 win over Beachwood.
Garfield Heights was led to victory by Summer Raines and Stacia Mobley. Raines scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Mobley scored 12 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Beachwood lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Goldi Aschkenasy. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 25 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aschkenasy has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lexi Jaffe, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Garfield Heights' victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Beachwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garfield Heights' road trip will continue as they head out to face Ravenna at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Ravenna is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Beachwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Wickliffe at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
