Mid-State 38 - Union recap October 22, 2013
Bernards added to the longest winning streak in Mid-State 38 - Union this week by beating Roselle Park, 14-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mountaineers.
Belvidere took down Manville 63-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Bernards' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Baum threw for 124 yards and Sebastian Sanchez had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Sanchez contributed 78 yards. Luke Bowerbank helped Bernards' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 38 yards.
Sanchez was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 78 yards as Jon Simoneau's team beat the Panthers. Teammate Carter Gilpin added to the ground attack by rushing for 44 yards.
Bernards' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mountaineers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Baum has thrown for 648 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Jordan Tantleff has 16 catches for 251 yards.
The County Seaters led the league in scoring this week by notching 63 points on the Mustangs.
