Bandys has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Lincolnton Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Bandys beat the Cavaliers 66-54. Given Bandys' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Cavaliers are ranked 460th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Landon Vaughan, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last three times he's played. Micah Slaughter was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two blocks.
Lincolnton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newton-Conover.
Lincolnton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Landen Lyerly, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds, and Tyler Mcclain who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Lyerly has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Phelps, who scored seven points.
Bandys' win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Lincolnton, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Bandys have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 42.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Lincolnton, though, as they've only made 4.58% of their threes this season. Given Bandys' sizable advantage in that area, the Wolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bandys lost to the Wolves on the road by a decisive 77-59 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Bandys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
