Northumberland got themselves on the board against West Point on Monday, but West Point never followed suit. They blew past the Pointers 20-0. The win was just business as usual for the Indians, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Taylor Reaves was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other pitching news, Brock O'Bier looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Camden Brann, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Chase Hymes was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Northumberland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Point only posted an OBP of .111.
Northumberland's record is now 3-0. As for West Point, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Northumberland will square off against Mathews at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Point, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Surry County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
