The Clover Blue Eagles were the 63-47 winner over the Spring Valley Vikings when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Clover fell 58-51 to the Vikings on Tuesday. Clover found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 14 to 4 on offense.
When it comes to explaining why Clover lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylon Hoover. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Palumbo, who scored seven points.
Justin Skelton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Spring Valley, scoring 22 points along with two steals. Joshua Nelson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Clover's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Spring Valley, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clover will face off against the Bengals at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Blythewood is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Blue Eagles a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Spring Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Mill is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
