The Heritage Academy Heroes will head out on the road to face off against the South Pointe Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage Academy has seven straight wins, South Pointe has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Heritage Academy faced Canyon State Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Heritage Academy claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over Canyon State Academy on the road. The result was nothing new for Heritage Academy, who have now won five matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Heritage Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Scott, who picked up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Scott was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 62 yards. Kaden Bergman made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Heritage Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Ryan Nelson and Varis Carling who racked up five sacks between them.
South Pointe played against Imagine Prep and lost via forfeit.
Heritage Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.33 points. As for South Pointe, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Heritage Academy was dealt a bruising 46-6 defeat at the hands of South Pointe in their previous matchup back in September of 2017. Can Heritage Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
