Quince Orchard is 0-4 against Bethesda-Chevy Chase since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Quince Orchard Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons at 7:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Quince Orchard unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-29 loss at the hands of Whitman. While losing is never fun, Quince Orchard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Whitman is ranked 28th).
Kelly Adams was Quince Orchard's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Kasey Rappaport held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Bethesda-Chevy Chase's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Clarksburg 53-49.
Despite their loss, Bethesda-Chevy Chase saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Frances Doyle, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisha Robinson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Quince Orchard's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Quince Orchard have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bethesda-Chevy Chase struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Quince Orchard came up short against Bethesda-Chevy Chase when the teams last played back in January of 2019, falling 52-45. Can Quince Orchard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
