Baseball Recap: St. Andrew's Episcopal's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

St. Andrew's Episcopal waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Pelahatchie Chiefs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Stone Myrick made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cash Myrick and Marco Leflore did most of the damage at the plate: Cash scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Leflore went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Drew McDonald, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

St. Andrew's Episcopal hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pelahatchie struck out ten times.

St. Andrew's Episcopal pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pelahatchie, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Andrew's Episcopal will square off against Yazoo County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Pelahatchie, they will face off against Richland at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
