The Citrus Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 85-42 loss at the hands of Central. Citrus has struggled against Central recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Citrus' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashton Jenkins, who scored nine points along with five rebounds, and Mason Bryant who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jenkins has scored all season.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeroen "JD" Watson led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Watson has scored at least 25% of Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Joyner, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and seven steals.
Citrus bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Citrus will head out on the road to face off against Fivay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fivay is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66 points per game. Central and Rickards will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Rickards' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
