After both having extra time off, the Covenant Day Lions and the Ardrey Kell Knights will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Covenant Day has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Covenant Day took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Marvin Ridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 3-2.
Covenant Day had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 15-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-8.

Covenant Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Lapp out in front who had eight digs and four aces. Those eight digs gave Lapp a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Keefer, who had 51 assists and seven digs.
Meanwhile, Ardrey Kell is ranked highly in their home state and last Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Legion Collegiate Academy. The Knights fell 3-1 to the Lancers. That makes it the first time this season the Knights have let down their home crowd.
Ardrey Kell started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21.
Despite the defeat, Ardrey Kell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cullen Lemoine had 14 digs and two aces. Lemoine has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times he's played.
Ardrey Kell's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Covenant Day, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's game: Covenant Day has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.1 aces per game.
