The Independence Mustangs are on the road again on Friday and play against the Mt. Vernon Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Independence strolled past Center Point-Urbana with points to spare, taking the game 30-13.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Keokuk 56-7 on the road. The result was nothing new for Mt. Vernon, who have now won five matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Independence is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1.
