The Tesoro Titans fell victim to the Mission Viejo Diablos''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 36-0 loss at the hands of the Diablos. Having soared to a lofty 37 points in the game before, Tesoro couldn't push the score so high this time.
Cash O'Byrne threw for 156 yards on 15 of 28 attempts. Todd Nelson was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Travis Wood rushed for 81 yards.
Mission Viejo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Vance Spafford out in front who picked up 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Spafford's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Luke Fahey was another key contributor, throwing for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Tesoro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mission Viejo, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tesoro will square off against San Clemente at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Clemente will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Mission Viejo, they will head out on the road to face off against Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
