The Floresville Tigers/Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the Somerset Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Floresville's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Somerset's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Floresville's win against Devine wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers/Jaguars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Warhorses on Tuesday. The Tigers/Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Warhorses recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jaden Moreno made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Floresville is 7-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. Moreno was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Landen Mutz tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Beyer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Bryan Cardenas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Somerset made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pearsall on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Mavericks. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Floresville, Somerset also got a great game from a two-way player: Nick Flores. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Flores has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Josiah Gonzales was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Blake Menchaca was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.
Somerset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Somerset has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Floresville, their record now sits at 13-9.
Floresville came out on top in a nail-biter against Somerset in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers/Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
