Intermountain Christian came out on top against American Prep WV by a score of 52-40 on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Intermountain Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Elaine Lunsford continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Wanner, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
American Prep WV's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leticia Calderon, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calderon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nicole Tran, who scored 16 points.
American Prep WV struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Intermountain Christian racked up 14 assists.
Intermountain Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for American Prep WV, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Intermountain Christian will head out on the road to challenge Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Intermountain Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday. As for American Prep WV, they will be playing in front of their home fans against American Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (American Prep WV is ranked 132nd, while American Leadership Academy is ranked 122nd).
