Christ's Church Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let First Coast Christian get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jack Rose and Jacob Ligmanowski dominated on the mound. Rose pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Ligmanowski pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rose has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Christ's Church Academy let Brady Watson and Parker Swartz run wild. Watson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Swartz went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Swartz has posted since back in March. Christian Murray also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
St. Johns Country Day not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Eagle's View. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on TJ Sunderhaus, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Preston Cole was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.
St. Johns Country Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
St. Johns Country Day has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Christ's Church Academy, their record is now 14-10.
Christ's Church Academy suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to St. Johns Country Day when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
