Baseball Game Preview: Tracy Bulldogs vs. Manteca Buffaloes

The Tracy Bulldogs will take on the Manteca Buffaloes at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tracy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Tracy is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 12, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past Patterson 11-9. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jace Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Tracy got a massive performance out of Josh Giuliacci, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Brady Brown was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Tracy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patterson only posted an OBP of .389.

Meanwhile, Manteca didn't have quite enough to beat Hughson on Friday and fell 5-4. The loss was the Buffaloes' first of the season.

Nate Slikker and Chris Chavez did some serious damage despite the final result: Slikker went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Chavez scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that Chavez's stole this season. Another player making a difference was Preston Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Manteca fell to 4-1. As for Tracy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tracy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Manteca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts.
