Basketball Recap: Catawba Ridge's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Catawba Ridge had lost four straight headed into Friday's contest, but Isaiah Thomas didn't let it get to five. The Catawba Ridge Copperheads secured a 52-47 W over the J.L. Mann Patriots on Friday thanks in part to Thomas, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 19 points and three steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Peters, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and four steals. Peters is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, J.L. Mann still got an impressive performance from Nickoli Williams, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dontez Walker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for J.L. Mann, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catawba Ridge and Spartanburg will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Catawba Ridge is facing Spartanburg at the right time seeing as Spartanburg is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for J.L. Mann, they will venture away from home to square off against Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. J.L. Mann is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season.
