Huntingdon took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Central a 4-0 shutout.

Alivia Nicklow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Juniata Valley fell victim to Bedford and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Bisons. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Hornets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Juniata Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bethany Devore, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Huntingdon pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Juniata Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Huntingdon hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Juniata Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Huntingdon was able to grind out a solid victory over Juniata Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-4. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
