It was a good run, but The Boca Raton Bobcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 31-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cardinal Gibbons. While losing is never fun, Boca Raton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Cardinal Gibbons is ranked 42nd).
Chance Routson and Damien Taylor certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Routson threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns, while Taylor picked up 167 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cardinal Gibbons had a senior duo take command as Patrick Anderson jr. rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown and Michael Merdinger threw for 222 yards and a touchdown. Zach Thompson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Boca Raton's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Boca Raton will head out on the road to face off against Lake Worth at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stranahan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
