After each having a week off, The Golden Plains Bulldogs and the Ingalls Bulldogs will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
Last Friday, Golden Plains had to suffer through a rough 72-6 loss at the hands of Cheylin. While losing is never fun, Golden Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Cheylin is ranked 13th).
Meanwhile, Ingalls put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Deerfield 56-6 on the road. The win was just what Ingalls needed coming off of a 78-42 defeat in their prior match.
Langston Nothern was a one-man wrecking crew for Ingalls as he rushed for 185 yards and six touchdowns on only 13 carries. Nothern was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Mikol Cohn, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Deerfield to a paltry 144 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Ingalls' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Myron Miller and his two sacks.
This is the second loss in a row for Golden Plains and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Northern Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 93.8% over those games). As for Ingalls, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
