Basketball Recap: Cottondale Falls Despite Big Games from Cameron Odom and Tramond Collins

Cottondale and Blountstown squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Cottondale had to settle for second. They took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blountstown Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-39 back in January.

Despite the loss, Cottondale had strong showings from Tramond Collins, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, and Cameron Odom, who posted 18 points and three steals. That's the most steals Collins has posted since back in December of 2024. Trashonn Collins was another key player, putting up nine points.

Blountstown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Sercye, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Cyion Smith, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Cottondale's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Blountstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Cottondale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blountstown, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Blountstown Tigers challenge the Munroe Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Munroe will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Blountstown surely won't give up without a fight.
