Willis had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 34-27 victory over the Tomball Cougars on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildkats sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Willis found their leader in freshman Lincoln Frazier, who threw for 390 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Those 390 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Frazier. A healthy portion of Frazier's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Tyler Andrade.
Tomball lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaxyn Faldyn, who threw for 227 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 52 yards and one score on only seven carries. Ian Thomas was another key player, rushing for 142 yards and one touchdown.
Willis' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Tomball, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.
Willis wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 38-32 victory against Forney on the 29th. Tomball does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
