The Oakwood Comets fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 46-35 win over Armstrong on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Oakwood, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Oakwood had a senior duo take command as Nikita Taylor scored 19 points along with two steals and Jaydah Arrowsmith scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Wright, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Oakwood's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Armstrong, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.
Oakwood on the road again on Wednesday and play against Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Paxton-Buckley-Loda has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Armstrong, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Watseka at 6:00 p.m.
