The Canton Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 64-36 loss at the hands of North Penn-Liberty. Canton was down 48-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Fitch, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Route, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Canton struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Penn-Liberty racked up 11 assists.
Leading North Penn-Liberty to victory were Daniel Harman and Adynn Wheeland. Harman scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Wheeland scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Harman scored 15 or more points. Louis Mercantino was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Canton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for North Penn-Liberty, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.
Canton has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Cowanesque Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for North Penn-Liberty, they will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
