Shelbyville is a perfect 4-0 against Rushville since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Golden Bears will take on the Lions at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shelbyville has five straight wins, Rushville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Shelbyville earned a 6-2 victory over New Castle.

Dalton Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Gavyn Fisher was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Shelbyville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Castle struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Rushville's offense. They came up short against Batesville on Thursday, falling 9-0.
Rushville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damion Trueblood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Nicholas Bowles also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Shelbyville pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rushville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
Shelbyville beat Rushville 9-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
