There's no place like home for Mt. Eden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past the San Lorenzo Grizzlies 13-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Monarchs have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Javier Alfaro III was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Cristian Alvarenga was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Mt. Eden is undefeated when Alvarenga posts three or more hits, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryan Zamora, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Mt. Eden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Mt. Eden pushed their record up to 10-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Lorenzo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4.
