The Tompkins Falcons will be playing at home against the Paetow Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tompkins' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Tompkins put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season last Thursday. They put the hurt on Jordan with a sharp 49-24 victory.
Tompkins had a senior duo take command as Wyatt Young rushed for 235 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.7 yards per carry and Caleb Blocker rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Blocker hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
Tompkins' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Rotimi Olayinka and his two sacks.
Paetow fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Katy Taylor 13-10.
Tompkins' victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Morton Ranch and 2-7 Seven Lakes (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37% over those games). As for Paetow, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.
Tompkins took their victory against Paetow when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 41-17. Does Tompkins have another victory up their sleeve, or will Paetow turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
