The Ridgecroft Rams put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 41-24 victory over Pungo Christian Academy. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Ridgecroft has scored all year.
Ridgecroft's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenzie Slaughter led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Chamblee, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Baxter, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ginny Pugh was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Ridgecroft's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-0. As for Pungo Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.
Ridgecroft will be playing at home against Pungo Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pungo Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Ridgecroft is ranked 42nd). As for Pungo Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Ridgecroft at 6:00 p.m.
