The Sunset Knights will face off against the Killian Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunset is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Last Thursday, Sunset got the win against Downtown Doral by a conclusive 9-1.
Sunset got a great performance from Angel Lopez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nicholas Roca was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Sunset's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Kelvin Manso also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Sunset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Killian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They came out on top against North Broward Prep by a score of 5-0. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three contests in a row.
Sebastian Perez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jonathan Acosta, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Sunset pushed their record up to 11-11 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Killian, the victory also got them back to even at 11-11.
Sunset couldn't quite finish off Killian when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
