Washington is 5-0 against the Wolves since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Washington Eagles will head out on the road to take on The Academy - San Francisco Wolves at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Washington blew past the Bears, posting a 85-46 win on the road. Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Bears are ranked 1117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Washington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Korey Abantao out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. Abantao continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Quadir Jules was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, The Academy - San Francisco suffered a rough 70-44 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for The Academy - San Francisco in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for The Academy - San Francisco, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Washington didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Wolves in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 62-58 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
