Meanwhile, even though Hickory Grove Christian scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Gaston Christian still came out on top. Gaston Christian put the hurt on Hickory Grove Christian with a sharp 85-60 win. Given Gaston Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Hickory Grove Christian is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Makoi Mabor Marier, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Newman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 assists.
Their wins bumped Concord Academy to 6-4 and Asheville Christian Academy to 6-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Concord Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 62.4 points per game. It's a different story for Gaston Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 62.1 per game. The only thing between Concord Academy and another offensive beatdown is Gaston Christian.
