The Aspen Skiers had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 54-16 loss at the hands of Palisade on Thursday. Aspen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-11.
Despite the loss, Aspen still got an impressive performance from Madeline Lee, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Aspen were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisade only pulled down 22.
Palisade's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Simons, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals. Mady Bavor was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals.
Aspen's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Palisade, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Aspen will square off against Steamboat Springs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Steamboat Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Palisade, they will face off against Rifle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
